Rishi Rich

Rishi Rish is arguably the most successful Asian music producer our generation has seen. His unique and creative beats are synonymous with fans and artists alike.

Recognised from a young age for his innate love of music, the harrow-born rising star signed his first album at the age of fifteen under the production of '2 Kool'. Rishi went on to co-produce ten Asian music albums before working on his first solo album entitled 'Simply Rich'. It debuted at No.1 in the Asian charts in October 2002 with the timeless lead single ‘Nahin Jeena’, featuring Don D and Juggy D.

The landmark album, showcasing Rishi’s innovative style of fusing RnB, Ragga and Bhangra, undoubtedly propelled Rishi’s trademark beats into the mainstream. Combining his influences from his Punjabi background and his love for urban music and pop, the talented producer has been able to appeal to a wider audience through remixes with international artists such as; Craig David, Mary J Blige, Ricky Martin, Westlife, Estelle and Liberty X. He produced the official Top 10 (No.6) hit ‘Roll On’ for Mis-teeq and ‘This Is How We Do It’ for the Ali G soundtrack. Rishi also produced the ‘Kulcha’ remix for Britney Spears and Madonna’s ‘Me Against The Music’ which Britney will be performing to during her international Circus tour.

With his talent for spotting new artists, Rishi went onto launch the successful careers and flamboyant sounds of Juggy D and the soulful flavours of Jay Sean under record label 2Point9. The trio brought a new sound to the millennium and achieved revolutionary mainstream success with their Bhangra and RnB concoction. ‘Dance With You (Nachna Tere Naal)’ reached No.12, ‘Eyes On You’ reached No.6 and ‘Stolen’ reached No.4 in the official UK Singles Chart which included ground-breaking TV performances on the likes of Top of the Pops and CD:UK.

This soon led to the release of Rishi’s second album ‘The Project’. The album included the single Push It Up (Aaja Kuriye), which peaked at No.1 on the BBC Asian Network Chart and the Club Asia Essential 20 Chart.

In 2004, Rishi produced the title-track ‘Hum Tum’ for the super hit Yash Raj Bollywood movie starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. In the same year, Rishi was awarded ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best Single’ for ‘Dance With You’ at the UK Asian Music Awards (AMAs).

In 2007 and after parting ways with his record label, Rishi launched his own namesake production company aptly entitled Rishi Rish Productions. With his continuous eye for talent, Rishi’s search for creative flair and rawness led him to H-Dhami and Mumzy Stranger.

In 2009, Rishi received the ‘Award For Excellence’ at the Asian Woman magazine awards. Rishi was also awarded ‘Best Producer’ for H-Dhami’s ‘Sadke Java’ album at the prestigious Asian Music Awards and at the same time, Rishi was honored with the ‘Commitment To The Scene’ accolade for his consistent dedication and positive contribution to the Asian music industry.

Rishi has just completed tracks with respected Bollywood music director Anu Malik to feature in upcoming Bollywood films yet to be announced.

Currently, Rishi is putting the finishing touches to Mumzy Stranger and Tasha Tah’s albums and working with a whole host of UK and international artists.
H Dhami

Where UK Bhangra’s concerned, there seems to be only one name on everyone’s lips….H-Dhami.

H (Hartinder) Dhami is the son of Palvinder Dhami, lead singer of legendary Bhangra group Heera which reigned supreme during the 80’s golden era.

Born literally with a mic in his hand, H was performing in the shadow of his father from the tender age of six and it was inevitable that he was to become a major driving force on the UK Bhangra scene.

In 2007, H formed alliances with renowned music producer Rishi Rich who signed him to his very own powerhouse production company Rishi Rich Productions.

The Hounslow boy started to perform the UK Mela circuit and alongside Bollywood heavy weights like Shah Rukh Khan. H also went on to perform in Dubai and embarked on a city tour in the USA reigniting their love for UK Bhangra.

The release of H’s first single Sadke Java was a summer hit for 2007. It featured Rishi’s unique trademark beats and with such fresh vocals, the single was an instant hit. Fans were also delighted to see the slick, glossy production of the video and it was later voted ‘Best Video’ by ZEE TV viewers.

In early 2008, H released his debut album which shared the same name as his first single. The hotly anticipated Sadke Java featured thirteen songs and collaborations with artists such as Roach Killa, Chaaya and Mumzy Stranger. The album reached No.1 in all the Asian charts and radio stations, TV networks and critiques alike were eager to welcome the new boy on the block.

In March 2008 - less than three months after his album was released, H received the award for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the prestigious B4U UK Asian Music Awards (AMAs)

H has also managed to take his first step on the coaching ladder by completing the FA Level 1 Coaching Course. The avid Arsenal supporter is the first Asian artist to participate in the FA’s ‘Football For All’ strategy set up to encourage young Asians to participate in the sport.

Since 2008, H has released two more videos including; Mitran Di Jaan and Har Gabroo from his hugely successful album. He’s released his album in India and North America and has been nominated for three awards for the UK AMA’s 2009 and won ‘Best Act.’

With a magnetic stage presence, H has left a blazing trail, spreading not only his name but also his charm. The boy who once shadowed his father is now undoubtedly living the dream.
Mumzy

Born Muhammad Mumith Ahmed, but better known as Mumzy Stranger (adapted from his middle name to help with rhyming his lyrics) is the second youngest in a family of six siblings.

Growing up in the late 90’s, his musical roots lay in the underground sounds of UK Garage where MCing played a major part of the scene.

The East Londoner began to mimic MCs from that genre and he soon started singing and blending in his soulful vocals in between his MCing and rapping.

In 2005, a friend sent over a demo tape to the BBC Asian Network and somehow found itself being shortlisted for the finals at the BBC Asian Network ‘Unsung’ competition, dedicated to unsigned talent. He missed out on a win but his consolation prize was meeting Rishi Rich who saw huge potential in him. Mumzy later learnt that it was Rishi that fished his demo out of the competition basket. It was this encounter that paved the way forward for the young vocalist.

In 2007, Mumzy released two promo singles; ‘Stranger’ and ‘Let’s Party’ and since then, he’s worked with a range of artists including Taz from Stereo Nation and Jassi Sidhu.

He’s also worked on two tracks with Bollywood music director Anu Malik and collaborated with classical indian artist Rajeshwari (who featured on Timbaland’s song ‘Indian Flute’) for her album.

Produced by Rishi Rich and co-written by Veronica, Rishi and Mumzy, 2009 will see Mumzy Stranger release material which will arguably set a new benchmark for the industry as a whole. Singles and videos will include; ‘Showgirl’, ‘One More Dance’ and ‘Runaway.’

It’s hard to imagine how things would have turned out if Mumzy’s demo hadn’t made it to the BBC. He’s at the beginning of his career – he’s edgy, creative and raw and he’s definitely no stranger.
